Aftermath Video – 3 North Carolina Construction Workers Killed In Scaffolding Collapse
Three people are dead after scaffolding collapsed at a construction site just outside of Uptown Monday morning, the Charlotte Fire Department reports.
The construction workers fell approximately 70 feet, according to NBC affiliate WCNC. Queen City News of Charlotte reported that the construction site where the accident occurred is being developed as a luxury senior living community, but the Houston-based developer behind the project, Bridgewood Property Company, said the accident occurred at a neighboring address.
While officials did not confirm the name of the company running the site where the incident happened, a sign on the property with the Hanover Company name and logo asks any site visitors to check in at another location. WCNC Charlotte called the number on the sign, and the person who answered said OSHA was investigating what happened and that the company would be releasing a statement, likely Tuesday morning.
All work at the construction site was stopped until Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigators could evaluate.
