An alligator attack on a swimming man was captured by a drone which was hovering above the shoreline of Lake Thonotosassa in Hillsborough County, Florida.
The Florida man, J.C. Defeats says he is a walking miracle after a 12-foot alligator attacked him while swimming in a lake as he took part in the making of an instructional video.
Drone footage provided by Fox 35 Orlando.
J.C. Defeats was rushed to Tampa General Hospital after he was able to make it to safety after the aggressive gator bit down on his head.
Doctors performed a craniectomy, a surgery to remove a portion of the skull. Mr. Defeats is the fourth person to be attacked by alligators in the Tampa Bay Area in the last three weeks alone.
Florida wildlife officials want to urgently remind people that lakes, ponds, and even rivers are not safe to swim in. Florida is home to over 1.3 million alligators and has a healthy and stable alligator population. Alligators roam all 67 counties that make up the state of Florida, and they inhabit every wild area able to sustain them.
