There’s apparently a video from inside the classroom that day which shows Bryce Givens, 46, using an open hand to slap one of his students in the back of the head. I have not come across this video but if I do I’ll add it here.
The student told deputies that he did not have any visible injuries but the slap did cause him to have a headache. The teacher Bryce Givens told deputies that he watched the student pull another student’s hair. He said he reacted by slapping the student.
Deputies said Givens was extremely remorseful for his actions and advised that his intention was not to cause harm to the student but to discipline him.
Bryce Givens was arrested and charged with child abuse for hitting the student. The name of the school was redacted in the report.
